He’s won 9 Grammys, released 5 studio albums, and has topped the charts in more ways that one with his dozens of hits yet John Legend has surprisingly never peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Well the numbers are in yet another week of chart tracking and John Legend has topped the chart knocking Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ out of the #1 spot, which he had held for 10 straight weeks. It’s been a decade since his debut, Get Lifted, and in that time his previous hits have all topped the R&B/Hip-Hop charts, but have failed to top or make it to the Hot 100. ‘Ordinary People’ (2005) and ‘Green Light’ (2008) were his only tracks to make it to the Hot 100 and both peaked at #24.
‘All of Me’ reached its 30th week on the chart this week and became the third longest climb to the top in the charts 55 year history. The track is featured on his latest album, Love in the Future.
He tweeted:
“#1!!!!!!!! Thank you!!”
Congrats!!!
