NEW MUSIC: Chris Brown x Trey Songz

christreyVirgina boys, Chris Brown and Trey Songz hinted at a tour via Instgram and for those that thought it was rumor this tour could very well be happening with their remixes to four new tracks. First off, how great would it be to see these two on stage?! I’m very interested. They have released remixes to: Schoolboy Q‘s, ‘Studio’; TeeFLii‘s, ’24 Hours’ILoveMakonnen‘s, ‘Tuesday’; and Snootie Wild‘s, ‘Made Me’.

No surprise that the lyrics are very sexual as it’s all that these two sing/occasionally rap about. Out of the four my fav is ‘Tuesday’. Listen to all four below (via Soundlcoud):

Album Review: X (Deluxe Edition)

chris-brown-x-deluxe-edition-coverI’ve been listening to Chris Brown’s latest album, X, in rotation since its release (9.16) and I’ve been LOVING it from beginning to end. I’ve been a Chris Brown fan since his self-titled debut was released back in 2005. I remember when I first saw ‘Run It’ on BET and I remember how obsessed I was over his second album, Exclusive: The Forever Edition. I’ve enjoyed tracks in between then from his other albums, BUT this is the first one that I’m listening to constantly on rotation from beginning to end. Let’s get into the review. Be sure to ALWAYS click the links!

Now for pricing and all that good stuff, for those that care and still BUY albums. The prices on iTunes, Amazon, Target, and Walmart are all similar with the standard starting at $9.99 and deluxe priced at about $14.99.

Moving on to the MUSIC, the album consists of 17 tracks with 4 bonus tracks for a total of 21 tracks. ‘Fine China’, ‘Don’t Think They Know’ (feat. Aaliyah) and ‘Love More’ (feat. Nicki Minaj) were both released in the earlier part of last year, I guess that’s why it made it’s way to the bonus tracks section of the album. As for MY TOP 5:

  • ‘X’
  • ‘New Flame’ (CLICK HERE for video review)
  • ‘Songs on 12 Play’
  • ‘Stereotype’
  • ‘Autumn Leaves’
  • BONUS — ‘Time for Love’

In comparing the ‘Songs on 12 Play’ (feat. Trey Songz) versus ‘Drown In It’ (feat. R. Kelly) from my top picks it’s clear to see who won the battle for me. The placement of the tracks was great. To have ‘Songs on 12 Play’ then move on to the ‘101 (Interlude)’ with ‘Drown In It’ was perfection. Anyone that follows music knows of the past “beef” between Trey Songz and R. Kelly, but this impromptu vocal battle, was greatness. I WISH I could’ve heard them on the same track, but having the two of them on the same album is a start.

The overall album shows that Chris Brown can do just about anything musically. You have the traditional R&B, new age R&B (which has more bass), and of course his pop tracks. Chris Brown can really maneuver into any lane and that’s why he has such a vast fan base. Regardless of how long it took for this album to be released, it was worth the wait.

Single Review: Chris Brown, ‘X’

chris-brown-x-singleChris Brown is back with another track and this time he’s singing about moving on. In yet another single off his upcoming album, X, he’s over this ‘chick’. Based off of what’s been released he’s talked about hoes not being ‘loyal’, getting a ‘new flame’, and in this one he’s on to the next and over his past. I mean could this track be about his on-again off-again girlfriend, Karrueche? Or is this another one about Rihanna.

The lyrics discuss how he feels about said girl and how he feels he’s been lied to, how she’s deceitful. If you didn’t think he was possibly talking about Karreuche, then he said this:

I didn’t build these walls for you to piss all on my past

We all know of Chris’ past and with his recent jail time it came back to haunt him. Well, it will always haunt him. The track overall was slow in the beginning, but then it started to build up. Once it did and it got to the hook, that is what made the song.

I swear to God I’m moving on.

The choreo for this video could be so sick. From the looks of it, this album is all about his feelings on love and at this point he’s either moving on or the ‘hoes’ are just disloyal. Even though he’s on Instagram flexing of his current tumultuous love affair, his album states otherwise. Music is free expression so to each its own.

Video Review: Chris Brown, ‘New Flame’

breezy

Chris Brown has finally released a visual for his track ‘New Flame’ featuring Usher and Rick Ross. The video has no storyline and while I would have liked one, I’m not surprised. I also would’ve like Usher & Chris to break out into some dope choreo together, but didn’t get that either.

The video is all white themed. THere’s Chris dancing on water twirling an umbrella with a top hat as girls laid around him. As for his attire he has on this pants/shorts thing which is a bit ridiculous and a super long shirt. Then there’s a scene with him standing against this wall and he ditched the shorts and the hat and added a blazer and a gold chain. Then slide to Usher who’s like on top of this mountain and then he started doing that robotic thing he did in ‘Burn’. Moving on to Rick Ross who had to have his shirt off. He could’ve wore a white shirt or something. Nope there he was sitting down with that infamous chain. Shoot to the desert scene with the all white attire still there. There’s ‘X’ blazing in the background; there’s the flame. There’s a random cameo by Tyga. Then Chris kills it at the end with his choreo.

There was nothing really spectacular about the video. I really watched to see what choreo would be involved. You can’t have a Chris Brown video without some choreo. Again I would’ve liked to see a full out routine from him and Usher. They did a little something at the end, but it could’ve been better.

Overall the dessert scene was very entertaining. I’m a fan of Chris Brown’s choreo.
