Motivational Monday | The Best People In Life Are FREE

Well, it’s official, I QUIT MY JOB! (insert every emoji you can think of)

It was bittersweet doing so, but in order for me to grow I had to go. It sucks leaving what you know for something new. I won’t say that I’m not afraid of change, but for the first time in my life, I’m content with a decision. I’m typically indecisive, but this decision happened fast and the two weeks after I put in my notice really flew by.

I was touched by every single thank you that I received from the parents, teachers, and my other coworkers for every thing I had done. It really showed me that just when you think no one is looking or cares, that’s not the case. The best people in life are REALLY FREE!

Motivational Monday | Get Over Yourself

As of Friday I’ll be officially done at my job. I did something that I’ve been talking about for 3 years now, I quit. No backup plan, no savings, just a leap of faith. I was tired of sacrificing my happiness for a paycheck. I couldn’t keep debating on when to leave just because the job was a job. To really succeed and to really see change, I’d have to take the first step.

Motivational Monday | My Time vs. My Turn

HAPPY FREAKING MONDAY EVERYONE!

I know, we all wish it was still the weekend. Plus it’s the first day of Summer and I’m sure there’s a lot of other things you’d like to be doing rather than working.

For those new readers, my Motivational Monday series is by far my favorite. I mean, who doesn’t like to be inspired and motivated? I draw inspiration from my everyday life whether it be something I see when I’m driving, a convo with a friend, or even something on TV. If it speaks to me, I want to share it.

Motivational Monday | Life After College

Just because you don’t see God’s hand, don’t question his plan.

Three years ago today, May 23, 2013, I graduated with my B.A. in English Communications-Broadcast Journalism. Sounds fancy, but I studied both English literature and radio/TV production. It’s like a dual degree, but really falls into the Communications realm.

Here we are three years later and at the end of the summer I’ll have my MBA in Marketing. Cheers to higher education regardless of the pricey tuition and whether people think you actually need it or not.

Motivational Monday |Passion VS. What’s Trending

It’s very easy as a blogger to lose sight of why you began blogging in the first place. Typically you begin blogging to share what you love or to fill a void of what you think is missing in the blogosphere. Regardless of why you began, as a beginner blogger, you have that fire for your content. You’re passionate about what you write about and it reads through your work.

Motivational Monday | Perspective

This past week was one filled with unexpected deaths. There’s no other way for me to put it, but then again when is death to be expected? Is it easier to bear when the person is a certain age? Is it harder to bear when they have a status?

Motivational Monday | Sometimes You Need a Break

Last week was just one of those weeks where I wasn’t inspired. I couldn’t get into the groove of anything. Whether it was work/blogging/homework, I was barely pushing through, but I felt stuck. I was moving, yet not nearly as productive as  wanted to be.

Motivational Monday | Live in the Moment

HAPPY FREAKING MONDAY!

Let’s start the week off right with a daily dose of motivation. This week is all about taking a step back and living in the moment.

Story time — I went to Pinot’s Palette for wine and painting Friday night. Thankfully I had the day off for Good Friday so I spent the day doing absolutely nothing and it was amazing. Sometimes you just need those days to do nothing. It’s okay every once in a while to lounge around and binge watch a show/YouTube videos, or even curl up with a book.

Getting back to the wine and painting, the experience was amazing. I am no artist. I color every which away instead of going in one fluid motion. I haven’t taken an art class since my sophomore year of high school and I thought that this class would be painting by number. Not the case at all.

It was great to sit down with friends, my Pepsi (since I don’t drink wine), and be device free. I was able to really focus on the art for three hours without taking a picture. I didn’t have the urge to since I was so preoccupied. I was able to really enjoy the moment. Being that it was my first time doing the whole wine & painting it was a great experience.

I’ll never forget when I went to the Maroon 5 concert last March and Adam Levine told everyone to put their phones away during ‘She Will Be Loved’ and enjoy the f*cking moment (his words). This one girl just couldn’t do it and he took her phone, put it on stage, and she didn’t get it back for the rest of the performance. One of the security guards ending up giving it back to her. How can you really enjoy the concert, the music, the atmosphere, if you’re trying to film it? Just so people could know you were there?

If you’re having a date night or you’re out with your friends for dinner, put your phones away and talk to each other. It’s crazy how in this society you can go to a restaurant and everyone is looking on Instagram/Facebook instead of interacting with each other. They have to take a selfie, or a picture of their food/drink. The reasons are endless. Try taking a step back from and living life not by the lens. Save the selfie for the intermission.

Motivational Monday | Energy Is Contagious

Today I’m in a great mood. Unfortunately, these days don’t come often because of my surroundings. Yet, i wanted to share my good vibes virtual with you all.

There are days that I let a lot people get under my skin. I let them control my happiness. Allowing someone to inadvertantly control my happiness is based off people tearing you down to bring themselves up. There’s so many people I encounter from coworkers to family that doubt my potential just because. They never have a reason why, their energy is just failure. I’m a failure because I’m not doing things their way or staying in the normal lane.

Why must I box myself in? Why must I appease others to make them feel better? You only get one life. Don’t waste your time trying to make others happy and allowing them to steal your happiness. Don’t let them crush your dreams because they can’t see and don’t want to believe in your future.

There are people out there that want to see you fail. That’s reality.  Never let the negative energy turn you away from what it is that you want to achieve. Never give anyone power over your life. Don’t settle because they expect you to. Don’t settle because they force that feeling on you. Live your life as crazy as others may think it is.

Cheers to a productive week. Crush the negative gives with a smile. As Taylor Swift says, “shake it off.”
