MMF Celebrates Black History in Music, Feb. 23

TLC released their 3rd studio album, FanMail, on February 23, 1999 after a 5 year hiatus. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts with over 300,000 sold in the first week. The album was nominated for 8 Grammys at the 42nd Annual show and won Best R&B Performance by Duo or Group with Vocal, Best R&B Song for ‘No Scrubs’ and Best R&B Album. By 2000 the album was certified 6x platinum by the RIAA and became their second best selling album.

The album featured 17 tracks with hits ‘Stupid Ho,’ ‘No Scrubs,’ and ‘Unpretty.’

By the end of 1999 the album was #10 on the Billboard 200 and #84 on the end of the decade chart (1990-1999).

Billboard has released the Top 10 Girl Groups of all time. This is the LEGIT list based of sales and what not.

The top 10 all-time girl groups list is based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100. Artists are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 100 earning the least. Due to changes in chart methodology over time, certain eras are weighted differently to account for chart turnover rates over various periods.
